Reed Elsevier plc announced today that it has appointed Jim Casella as chief executive officer of its US based company, Cahners Business Information, the country’s largest business-to-business publisher. Mr Casella will be based in New York and will report to Gerard van de Aast, CEO of Reed Elsevier’s Business to Business Division.
Mr Casella has had a career in business to business publishing spanning nearly thirty years. He has held senior positions in several large publishing companies, including Harcourt and the special interest publication group ABC Magazines where he served as President. He also spent seven years at IDG, latterly as COO. More recently he was President and CEO of PennEnergy, a subsidiary of PennWell, and was subsequently CEO of Round1, a venture capital backed company.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr van de Aast said: “With Jim we have appointed a publishing executive who has distinguished himself throughout his career by producing outstanding results and we are delighted to have him in this key leadership role at Cahners.”
Mr Casella said “ I am delighted to be joining and leading Cahners. We have a unique set of market leading products and the resources and the vision to bring them to market as superior customer solutions. I look forward to working closely with the Cahners team to significantly grow our share of the US market.”
