Virgin Mobile gives customers an Xtra helping of the Brit Awards

06/03/2000

Virgin Mobile users are staying ahead of the Brit pack this week by listening to any track from the five Brit Award nominated albums on the Virgin Xtras Jukebox service, including, of course, Travis' The Man Who, which won the best British album award at the ceremony on Friday.

The Virgin Mobile Jukebox, introduced by DJ Steve Lamacq, will, for the next week, give a 30-second preview of any track from the five albums - Basement Jaxx 'Remedy', Gomez 'Liquid Skin', Stereophonics 'Performance and Cocktails', Chemical Bothers 'Surrender' and, of course, Travis 'The Man Who' - and the 2000 Brit Awards Double compilation CD. Virgin Mobile customers can then order one of these CDs, or any CD they want, from Virgin Megastore Direct, and receive a 15% discount* on purchases over £20, made using their Virgin Mobile.

Virgin Mobile offers the Jukebox as part of its unique Xtras service on all phones.

Virgin Mobile spokesman, Steven Day comments: "The Brit Awards always gets people talking about music and with Virgin Mobile the hottest sounds and the best discounts are always available at your fingertips."

Each week the Virgin Mobile jukebox menu gives customers a choice of 10 different albums. They can also sample 20 of the week's hottest singles releases on Britain's only internet radio station, Release Radio, broadcast direct to mobile phones (10p per minute*).

But it's not only music that can be accessed via the Xtras service. Each of Virgin's internet-compatible phones comes with a whole host of special services. At the press of a button, customers can get substantial savings on Virgin Holidays and Virgin Sun holidays and special offers on Virgin Express flights and Virgin Trains. They can also get hold of entertainment and listings information, traffic information and direct, discounted access to the RAC's Red breakdown service. Customers can also be sent many other great offers on items such as Virgin Atlantic flights, direct to the handset.
