A black hand with a few grains of white rice. Why is it black ? Is it a hand that offers or asks? Is it an act of respect or mockery? Is it an invitation to focus on the essential or to give alms? Does it suggest thrift or waste? Is it a lesson in taste? A desire for simplicity? Or the fear of losing our accumulated possessions? United Colors of Benetton continues its research into ways of communicating, which are different from fashion's current aesthetic vein, insisting on a fundamental theme, that of the contrast between the colours black and white, using it in a different way, yet again.
