A.V. Roe and Company was formed at Brownsfield Mills, Manchester, on 1 January 1910 by Alliott Verden Roe and his brother Humphrey.
The company built many famous aircraft types, such as the Lancaster bomber and the delta-wing Vulcan of the Cold-War era.
