The Royal Armouries house the National collection of arms and armour. The collection is split between three sites, the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, The Tower of London and Fort Nelson in Portsmouth. The Royal Armouries in Leeds was opened in 1996 as the new home of the national collection of arms and armour. Today, it has more than 8,000 exhibits and covers more than 3,000 years of history.
