IBC Group Plc, the business information and education group, announces the acquisition of Stewart Productions Limited (also trading as "Neil Stewart Associates"), a conference and seminar company, for a cash consideration of £300,000 payable upon completion. An additional maximum consideration of £300,000 is payable subject to Neil Stewart’s results to 31 July 1999.

Based in London, Neil Stewart Associates profit before tax for the year ended 31 July 1998 was £80,000 on turnover of £2.1 million.

Started in 1995, the business has grown quickly organising conferences and seminars on think tanks, government and public bodies, membership associations and campaign organisations. In the current year Neil Stewart Associates plans to hold 80 such conferences and seminars in the UK.

Neil Stewart, founder will continue as managing director of the company which will be integrated within IBC’s UK conference division.

Commenting on the acquisition Peter Rigby, Chief Executive of IBC Group plc, said: "IBC is able to offer Neil Stewart Associates the infrastructure support, a quality database and business intelligence which will help promote their product to a wider audience. The acquisition will provide significant synergies with IBC’s existing conference businesses through cross selling and conference development opportunities."
