Completion of merger with Borsa Italiana

Further to the Company’s announcement of 25 September 2007, the Company announces that its merger with Borsa Italiana S.p.A. (the “Merger”) has been completed today.
In accordance with the terms of the Merger (as described in the circular to shareholders dated 23 July 2007), the Company has issued 79,449,753 ordinary shares of 6 79/86p each in the capital of the Company (the “New Ordinary Shares”). Admission of the New Ordinary Shares to the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and to trading on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange will take place at 8.00am UK time on 1 October 2007.
