Appointment of Group Finance Director  
  
Premier Foods plc announces the appointment of Jim Smart as Group Finance 
Director with effect from 19 October 2009.  
  
Jim Smart was until August 2008 Chief Financial Officer of Friends Provident plc 
and also a non-executive director of F&C Asset Management plc. Prior to this he 
was Chief Financial Officer of Boots Group plc having joined the company in 2003 
as Group Financial Controller.  
  
Jim trained as an accountant with Coopers & Lybrand before joining Abbey 
National plc in 1988. At Abbey National he had a number of finance and 
operational roles including Group Financial Controller, Finance Director of 
First National Bank and Group H R Director. Jim is a member of the Chartered 
Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy and of the Chartered Association of 
Certified Accountants and holds an MBA.  
  
Commenting on the appointment, David Kappler, Chairman of Premier Foods said:  
  
"I am delighted that Jim has accepted our invitation to join the Board. Jim is a 
well known and respected FD and brings with him a wealth of experience gained at 
a number of FTSE 100 companies."
