Our ecological research centre is located in the Mandena conservation zone, on an ecotourism trail. The centre includes a nursery that can produce 170,000 saplings a year. We cultivate fast growing species of trees to provide a sustainable source of wood for villagers. This relieves pressure from natural forest and local endemic species from the littoral forest. We collect local seeds from the littoral forest in Mandena, Ste Luce and Petriky, and clean and germinate them to help us restore forest. We have also established a seed bank and herbarium for researchers and students and an education centre.
