28/06/2005

Stagecoach confirmed today (28 June 2005) that bookings are now being accepted for 1,000 subsidised seats on special dedicated buses travelling from London to Edinburgh for the anti-poverty event on 6 July.

A convoy of a dozen megabus.com double-deckers will travel north to Scotland late on 5 July, arriving in Edinburgh on the morning of the rally. The buses will return south to London late on 6 July after the event has ended. The subsidised seats are priced at £8 return and are available to book now at www.megabus.com.

Stagecoach has been working in partnership with the Make Poverty History coalition to put in place appropriate safety and security measures. Dedicated stewards will be on duty when passengers board the megabus.com vehicles at Greenline Coach Station in Victoria, London. The buses will then travel to Edinburgh, dropping off passengers in the area around Murrayfield Stadium.

Notes to Editors:

Megabus.com is the UK's first low-cost inter-city bus service, offering high quality travel from just £1 via the internet. Now linking more than 30 cities across the UK, it is based on the same approach as the low-cost airlines with cheaper fares the earlier passengers book. All the megabus.com vehicles are equipped with toilets.
