Megabus.com, the low-cost inter-city coach operator, has extended its shirt sponsorship deal with St Johnstone Football Club for a further year, it was announced today (20 July 2005).

Transport giant Stagecoach, which runs megabus.com, has signed a new one-year deal with the Perth club following an initial 12-month sponsorship for 2004-05. The megabus.com name will appear on the Saints first and second team strips during the 2005-06 season.

Steven Stewart, Stagecoach Group Head of Media and Public Affairs, said: “We are delighted megabus.com will continue to be St Johnstone FC’s shirt sponsor for a further season. Stagecoach is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and we have always been proud to support Perth where we still have our headquarters.

“Megabus.com is the UK’s leading low-cost inter-city coach service. We have a great brand as well as tremendous loyalty from our customers and the new sponsorship deal is part of our plans to encourage more people to get on board. We wish St Johnstone manager Owen Coyle and the players all the best for the coming season.”

St Johnstone’s Managing Director, Stewart Duff, added: “Shirt sponsorship is a very important part of the Club’s commercial activities and we are delighted that megabus.com has agreed to extend its sponsorship for a further season. Megabus.com is highly recognised both in Scotland and throughout the UK and we are pleased that such a well-know company with its base in Perth will display its company name on our jerseys.”

Megabus.com operates a network of services covering more than 30 cities across the UK, including Perth, with fares starting from as low as £1. More than 1.3 million passengers a year use megabus.com, which introduced a £6.5 million fleet of new state-of-the-art double-decker coaches earlier this summer.
