Signet Announces Board Changes David Supino (67), who has been a non-executive director of Signet Group plc since July 1997 has retired from the Board with immediate effect. Robert Blanchard, a US citizen, has today been appointed as a non-executive director of Signet Group plc. Mr Blanchard (56), had a long and distinguished career at Procter & Gamble Inc., both in the US and in Europe. Prior to his retirement in July 1999 he was a Procter & Gamble Group Vice President and President of the North American Beauty Care business. Since September 1999 Mr Blanchard has been a non-executive director of Best Buy Co., Inc., the largest US speciality retailer of consumer electronics, personal computers and related products. He has also, since 1997, been a non-executive director of Bandag Inc., a large international tread rubber and tyre supplier. James McAdam, Chairman, commented "I would like to express the Board's appreciation of the valuable contribution that David Supino has made to the Group during his tenure of office. We wish him a long and happy retirement. Robert Blanchard's all-round business experience, in particular his knowledge of consumer markets in both the US and Europe, will be of considerable value to the Group."
